It’s true, I LOVE Home Improvement!

I practically eat, sleep and breathe home improvement! Okay, maybe I don’t eat it but I definitely have an obsession with all things DIY and home improvement and I have spent more time and money at The Home Depot than anyone I know! So of course, you can imagine how excited I am to be partnering with The Home Depot on this Eco-Friendly Challenge!

 Eco-Friendly

I recently shared all about how The Home Depot has very impressive science-based target goals to reduce their energy usage by 50% by 2035! One of the biggest ways The Home Depot has improved its environmental impact is by working with suppliers to address global environmental concerns in their products. Products including carbon emissions, water scarcity, air quality, waste and more!

The Home Depot’s biggest environmental impact is in the products they sell.

Of course, when we built our cottage, last year, we wanted to use every Eco-Friendly product we could! If we were going to build an entire house DIY, we were going to do it RIGHT! We installed LED lights, energy-efficient windows, the proper R-Value insulation, used Low VOC Behr paint and made sure to seal up every area that could possibly let air through!

Our house has been extremely energy efficient and we are so glad we chose to use Eco-Friendly products found at The Home Depot on everything we could! But, there was one room we didn’t…the laundry room! My washer and dryer are quite possibly older than I am! Not only are they NOT at all energy efficient but they are so small I am wasting my own energy doing twice as many loads of laundry than if I were using an Energy Star Appliance!

Eco- Friendly Energy Star Appliances for the WIN!

It’s finally time to retire those old machines and invest in Energy Star appliances that will not only save me time but also money and I’ll be using 33% less water and 25% less energy! YAY! So, today I’m bringing my laundry room up to date and saying goodbye to my ancient washer/dryer set!!! To say I’m excited would be an understatement! Hooray!

Here are some more fantastic reasons to think about swapping out those old appliances. In 2017, The Home Depot committed to saving their customers $2.8 billion in energy costs and helping customers avoid 20 million metric tons of CO2 emissions through the sale of ENERGY STAR certified products. WOW, that’s impressive!

We ALL Love Saving Money!

In 2018 alone, The Home Depot saved customers $1.2 billion in energy costs and helped them avoid 7 million metric tons of CO2. According to the EPA, the typical American household spends about $2,000 a year on energy bills (wow)!

If you’re using energy-efficient products, you can use up to 30% less energy while saving more than $575 per year on energy bills. That right there makes it worth the initial investment! I mean, $575 would more than cover a whole lot of Christmas gifts for under the tree!

The Home Depot Environmentally safe

After doing my homework, shopping in-store, and talking to my mom (who has this washer and loves it), I decided to go with the Maytag 5.3 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Metallic Slate Top Load Washer with Deep Clean Option, ENERGY STAR, and the Maytag 8.8 cu. ft. 240-Volt Metallic Slate Electric Vented Dryer with Advanced Moisture Sensing, ENERGY STAR
