Simple Winter Decor ~ My Living Room Refresh

Happy New Year Friends!!! WOWZA! I am not really sure how that is possible! Anyway, here we are at the start of 2019 and I’m going to be ringing in the new year with a whole lot of hope and enthusiasm for what God has in store!

After all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I am really going to enjoy slowing down a bit.

I was, however, a little sad about saying goodbye to our winter wonderland and all our little Christmas trees in the living room. I think my kids counted 27 trees!!!

I knew that I wanted to bring a few more houseplants into our space for the winter! I was able to find these at my local grocery store. Greenery seems to add so much life to a room, especially in the long winter months.

I have been on the lookout for brass candlesticks of all shapes and sizes! I love how the candles add warmth and a cozy feel! Anything that makes the winter months a little warmer and cozier is a win in my book! I have noticed that they can be super pricey, so I was super excited about finding most of these for just a few dollars each! The largest one was $12 and the rest were around  $4! I know I will get a lot of use out of these years after year!

Because we don’t have a fireplace, I really love how versatile this DIY shelf is for decorating. It makes it feel like I have a mantel of sorts and the white shiplap really makes it easy to swap out one thing for another! And because we are going to Waco TX next month for our first time to ever visit the Magnolia Silos…I couldn’t resist this beautiful Longhorn print from @SMALLWOODHOME. Every time I look at it I get more and more excited about our getaway!

One of my favorite ways to change up our space is to switch out the throw pillows!!! I will totally admit to being obsessed with pillows! I can NOT get enough of them!!! Seriously…just ask my husband! Haha!!! I just love how they add as much or as little color and texture as you want! My absolute favorite places to snag pillows covers would have to be Hobby Lobby, Cloth and Cabin, and With Lavender and Grace.

Adding a blanket ladder in this corner also brought in more texture! I know we’ll be using these cozy throws for movie night or just sitting and reading a book on those cold winter nights!

Even though this is still a pretty neutral space, the greenery and the brass candlesticks make me feel like I have some color here and there!

I really enjoyed changing things up a bit! I am not one to keep things the same for very long! Maybe it’s because I’ve moved so many times, but I just can’t keep things in one place for longer than a month or two! I like to buy new decor once in a while, but I mostly just move things from here to there! Haha! My poor hubby can’t ever seem to find anything!!! But hey, it makes me happy so he’s happy!

I am so excited about the upcoming year you guys! I have so many fun DIY projects up my sleeve that I can’t wait to share with you all! I can’t even tell you just how thrilled I am that I finally said “goodbye” to my insecurities and doubts and started this blog! That was a biggie for me!!! I am so looking forward to this journey and all that this year will bring and I wish you and your families all the best as we welcome in the NEW YEAR!!!

XOXO
