It’s time for the BEFORE and AFTER reveal of my childhood home!!!

So many of us dream about updating our homes but taking on a major renovation can be messy, take a lot of time, and often end up costing more than anticipated. Other times we simply aren’t sure where to start or what will give us the most bang for your buck.

After years of renovating homes, I learned that there are TWO things that make a HUGE impact on the look and feel of a home! Any guesses on what they are?!?!

Paint is one of the most economical ways to update any room. Painting is inexpensive, easy to do and it can be done in a matter of hours! However, replacing old flooring can be a long process, be super messy and it can be costly…but Select Surfaces has changed all that with their new Rigid Core Vinyl Plank Flooring and that’s what we’re talking about today!

Like many homes, my parents’ home has undergone many additions over the years. On the main level, they had a grand total of 5 different floorings (plus 2 different floorings in the front and back entry area). It was a little mismatched and felt a bit choppy from room to room.

Ease Of Installation

This Vinyl Plank Flooring is a floating floor. This means It can be installed right over almost any existing floor such as subfloor, tile, laminate, concrete…cutting down on demo and mess!  We were able to install this floor right over all the other flooring and we only had to remove the carpet from the living room. I love it when we can save time and skip demolition.

100 % Waterproof

The New Rigid Core Vinyl Floor Plank Flooring is 100% waterproof! We have 4 seasons where we live so we have lots of rain and months of snow…having a          waterproof floor is a gamechanger! It also means that this floor can go in kitchens and bathrooms without any fear of water damage! I was thrilled that we could carry the flooring into my parents’ kitchen without any worries! My mom took the time to paint her kitchen cabinets and I think they look fantastic next to the new flooring!

Comfort and Sound Barrier

Rigid Core Vinyl items come with a 1 mm attached foam backer and will help smooth minor subfloor imperfections. Because the backer is already on the planks, it’s SO much easier to install. You won’t have to struggle to keep a foam sheet in place while installing the floors. Just measure, cut, click, and GO!  It also acts as an extra sound barrier and will cushion the planks, making the vinyl planks more comfortable to walk on. No more loud “clicking” noises from pets or kiddos when it’s walked on! It really is so much quieter than other laminate or vinyl products on the market!

Simple Angle-Click System

The Select Surfaces vinyl flooring feature a simple angle-angle click installation system! Than means is super DIY-friendly and extremely easy to use. It only took us a few hours to install this floor per room! The planks are each over 7 inches wide and 48 inches long allowing us to cover a lot of ground quickly. The planks have a slight texture to them making them look even more real!

Looks Like Hardwood

Maintenance Free
